I struggle loads with it, things never seem consistent, kit pieces always end up on the wrong part (snare on cymbal parts, cymbals on toms) even when I use the import from pre-set feature. Quite painful having to re-arrange everything.
This alone, if it worked well, would be almost worth the price of the full program in my opinion
I agree, I really need the mapping to be spot on, I do a lot of drum progging and having to mess around with the maps makes me not want to use BFD at all sometimes.
Apologies if I am missing something, but it would be lovely to be able to un solo everything or unmute everything at once by clicking the solo or mute bottom on the master track.
For instance, if I have solo’d 3 or 4 tracks or more, I have to unselect them one at a time, I cant seem to just cancel everything that is solo’d from the master channel? Cubase does this with one click.
Is it possible? If not that would be a great feature. Just found this in the manual which I tried before I posted this and it does not work:
This indicator can be ALT-clicked to un-solo all channels currently in a hard solo state.
Unless I’ve missed it somewhere, there should be a way to get rid of the “Confirm” dialog when loading a new kit. There should be a check-box in Preferences to turn it on or off. It’s particularly annoying when trying to quickly cycle through kits to find what you’re looking for, for a track.
User customizable channel output routing presets, for quickly switching between all on one stereo output to mixed mono/stereo. Steven Slate Drums has this and it’s very handy. This should be in addition to mixer presets. I think it’s a good idea to have them separate from each other.
Yeah, this and the mixer presets would be a big deal for me. I don’t usually compose with a full multi-out setup, but I do mix with one - often with VE Pro. The workflow would be much simpler if I could toggle between the two.
Yeah, I generally compose with one stereo out, and then print to DAW to mix. However, I still use the FX in BFD to get a general idea of how the kit might sound processed. The trouble I have is, when I print, I usually have to jack up the channel faders in BFD to get a louder signal going into my DAW. So I have to save a different preset for that. If I have to make any changes to the Kit Tech or Modeling, I have to remember to save the kit settings and load them in the two presets to stay consistent.
@Fender_Bender have you maxed out the “plugin gain” knob in the upper right?
I generally try to gain stage things so they make sense, but there are a few kit pieces that could use a little more and found this helps as a more general adjustment.
Not just BFD4 but BFD3 too.
Some kind of count down timer to tell you how may days you have left before you need to call home and reauthorise please.
Should go some way to ease users anxieties.
Steve
20 characters of agreement.
Yeah, I actually did this last night when printing. I still have to adjust some of the Ambient mic channels, etc though, but it does help to retain the balance I created for the kick and snare mics. To me, the balance between those is most important. I mean I could achieve that same balance in my DAW, but it’s just doing things twice and takes some time to get it right.
Don’t know how many times it takes repeating before it becomes a feature, but yes, I can’t see why BFD doesn’t add this. A visible countdown timer only makes things more workable using the current scheme. It has no downside at all.
I don’t know how many times it takes repeating but NO ONE wants ANY kind of TIME OUT with BFD.
I hope you guys enjoy it.
Combine BFD2, BFD3 and BFD4 into one consolidated product.
One Core library that contains ALL previous Core libraries.
One set of Preset and Kit files that include EVERYTHING needed to use these features.
No messing around with convoluted scanning of multiple paths.
Put it all together.
Make it simple to install, simple to setup, and simple to use.
I beg you!
That won’t happen because then there won’t be any upgrade path for users of those previous iterations. I doubt existing users will want to shell out $300+ when they already have paid BFD 1/2/3.
@Fender_Bender Perhaps your prediction will hold true. I certainly hope not. If so they will loose a lot of customers and BFD will eventually die.
The place where I buy almost all of my music/recording stuff (I won’t say their name, but they’re the #1 music/recording retailer) quit selling BFD because of all the complaints they were receiving about the product, and they determined that the product was not well supported. I almost went with Superior Drummer 3 instead of BFD for that reason. Instead I went with BFD3 because I was impressed with the quality of its samples and depth of the application. I’m a tweaker. Maybe I made a mistake. Only time will tell.
Sure there is, half off for current users
Yes, there is now, my reply was to @BigFriendlyDrums idea above, that BFD4 should include all previous core libraries.
Ah… I was wondering why Sweetwater dropped BFD from their products. I bought BFD1/2 through them many years ago. I was going to ask my sales Rep what the deal was.
