There is a shortcut. I had requested it to be added iirc. Check BFD3 Prefs. Also, I think if you hold down a modifier key+click one clip indicator on the mixer, it clears them all. Can’t remember if it’s Shift, Option, etc.
yeah, i tied all the modifiers i could think of… but perhaps i should try again, and yes, checking the prefs.
the indicators are small enough that nailing one isn’t always easy, and – speaking only for my own case – if i don’t hit them exactly when 2x-clicking, instead what i get is that the whole mixer interface re-sorts itself into a layout i do not favor and i end up having to drag (lots of) tracks back into the look that i like.
but i’m not complaining, of course!
Digital Performer (within which in which I commonly instantiate BFD) has a standard keystroke shortcut (cmd-\, i believe) that clears all clips without clicking anything, tho any specific peak indicator can be cleared in that way.
Ahh yes – there is an [unassigned] shortcut for both clear channel and clear all clips. Now… to figure out how to assign a key combination! Toggling the Learn button and entering a combo does not, in itself, derive the expected result.
I think I bound the ESC key for the clip indicators. I haven’t messed with shortcuts in ages, so I don’t remember the process, but it is pretty straightforward. The manual should explain it.
I took a look at my old post. Apparently, the clear clips on channels was already there. What I had requested (and I think added) was an option for 3 sec clipping indicators and then they automatically clear? Here was my request post.
@ratskins – i apolgize for the long delay in answering your question!
BFD3 > (upper left hand “3 horizontal lines” disclosure icon) > Tools > GUI > (scroll all the way down to) Keyboard Shortcuts > (in KS pane, scroll ALL the way down to) Mixer clear clip light channel or Mixer clear clip light all > (select the one you want) > click “Learn” button > press the key you want to apply to the desired action.
@Fender_Bender – ooh! a 3 seconds hold option would be great, good call. Totally agree with you about the confusion created by the “peak stays on always” thing.
I highlighted the “mixer clear clip light all” and then hit “learn”. But I was unable to get it to accept any bindings. Supposedly there is an “enable keyboard support” function somewhere, but I couldn’t find it. That shuts off bindings so they don’t interfere with certain DAWs. Any ideas?
EDIT: I found it. “enable keyboard support” is just below all the key assignments. It works.
