SR Bob Siebenberg kit piece crashing BFD

Can your try that :

Create a new library folder.

  • <Name of your Library>\Audio<name of your kit>\BS Timbale 1 brush
  • Rename Info.xml as Info.xml.org
  • Add the path and scan it.

In my case, my full path is :

Z:\AUDIO\Test Library\Kiki Kit\Audio\BS Kit\BS Timbale 1 brush

@VoilierBleu Hi there. So that kinda worked for me. Timbale 1, Timbale 2 and Timbale 2 brush all load and sound for me. However, I can load Timbale 1 brush, but when I play it, BFD3 Standalone immediately crashes.

@Fender_Bender : Could you give the md5 (or SHA1 or whatever hash function you want) of the bfdlac files in alt and hit please ?

Should be for Alt :

@VoilierBleu So, are our files for that Kit Piece/artic borked?

@jih64 : I donā€™t think so.

Just quickly glancing, it looks like they match up with what you posted.

We have the same files.

I suppose you have the same groove that failed, so you an repeat a test case.

Could you :
1/ Vary the profile (economy 16 bits, full, ā€¦) and play the test groove
2/ Try to reduce the number of master0x.bfdlac files (you must manually suppress them, then make the program respawn the tweaks xml file relaunching it or rescanning for example) and play the test groove.

Also, if you have a station with a Windows OS, give a try on it.

@VoilierBleu None of that worked. 16bit still crashes and all of the master bfdlac files for hit and alt all crash.

I donā€™t have a Windows OS set up for audio and I think Iā€™m done trying to troubleshoot a brush timbale that Iā€™ll probably never use.

just bumping this - and confirmed.

Loading Timbale 1 Brush causes a crash in BFD3 standalone
Loading Downbeat Kit Crash AND Ride Cymbal causes a crash in BFD3 standalone

life is too short to go through every kit piece to find out what other ones do.

  • Windows 10 although @Fender_Bender is on a Mac so itā€™s across both platforms.
  • Latest BFD3

Note: they also cause the last version of BFD3 from FXP to crash too - so this isnā€™t a recently introduced bug,

All these kit pieces work fine in BFD2 and the data in both the data folder and in the /appdata folder looks good so problem is elsewhere.

here are the fixes

Downbeat Crash and Ride are actually 7 channel files but bfdinfo.xml says they are 8 channel.
There is NO direct channel so edit the file (after backing it up) and remove the direct channel from the xml file and adjust the channel count to 7 (probably best to do this to info.xml too - as they appear to be the same contents)

The Timbale brush 1 has something wrong with itā€™s bfdinfo.xml file - a corrupt character somewhere. To fix copy the bfdinfo.xml file from Timbale brush 2 and over right the one in brush 1. Go through and edit the ā€œbrush 2ā€ to ā€œbrush 1ā€ obviously.
Do this to the info.xml file as itā€™s a copy.

Make sure you RESCAN those content folders in BFD3 after fixing

not sure why they work in BFD2 but itā€™s obviously much more resilient than V3

youā€™re welcome

We all appreciate the work youā€™ve put in to track down a fix for these issues, so thank you for your time there! As these arenā€™t showstoppers for me personally, Iā€™ll probably just wait for official fixes to the installers (assuming that actually happens at some point?) and will update any expansions as needed. Iā€™m not too savvy with this kind of stuff and donā€™t want to create more problems for myself trying to manually fix things. :beers:

I think itā€™s unlikely youā€™ll ever see a fix from Sonic Reality - I could rant on about them all day but thatā€™s not gonna help anyone.

Agreed that not having Timbale brush 1 isnā€™t a huge showstopper

Ahhhh nice detective work! I can probably fix that without needing SR involvement, but theyā€™d have to upload to their servers. Iā€™m grabbing all the packs now. Will give them the once over.

yes - would be good to double check what I foundā€¦although all those are working fine for me now

This fix isnā€™t working for me. I edited the BFDInfo.xml. I cleared and rescanned a few times, but no dice. There may be a cache somewhere that I missed, but I donā€™t see it.

@kafka

Iā€™d suggest you double check your work

@BFD_Drew was going to fix them and let everyone know when

like other promises from BFDā€¦guess it never happened ?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you on this. Just fell off my radar.

Swapping in the BFDinfo.xml worked for me!

Thanks for all your efforts!
