I have BFD2 & BFD3. I bought a few extension packs before I bought BFD3 (some via DrumDrops) These have been mostly recognised by BFD3, and I have 2 folders in my system; one marked BFD2 one as BFD3. The total of these 2 folders is 241Gb which, I believe, is way too large. I am puzzled how I can discern which of the files are required to operate BFD3 and which I should retain for use in BFD2. Is it simply the case that BFD2 uses (only) .WAV files and that BFD3 uses only bfdlac files. If I’m right, then I feel I could ditch a large number of ‘redundant’ files.
OR would it be easier to purge both systems from my PC and re-download and register the 2 programs? OR Do I only need to d=load BFD3 which will encompass the BFD2 (and extension packs) ? Thanks, in anticipation, for your views.
I think the BFD2 core library was originally around 80GB before they started using the BFDLAC format. Maybe your BFD2 library isn’t converted? Regardless, you can’t use the original BFD2 with BFD3… you need to get a replacement serial# for London Sessions, which is the equivalent of the BFD2 core library. File a support ticket with your BFD2 serial# and Fxpansion account email address (has to be the same as your inMusic email) and ask to get the London Sessions serial#. Once you authorize and download the newer expansion, you can delete the old BFD2 library if you’re not planning on using the BFD2 app anymore. If you do want to keep it anyways, you can use the BFDLAC app to convert the old library and it will have a smaller footprint, but if you’re mainly using BFD3, I would just delete the old library so there’s no confusion.
Hello, again, Fender Bender. I’ve fallen at the first hurdle, I’m afraid. I’m raising a ticket to request London Sessions, but I can’t find, anywhere, my BFD3 Serial Number. It’s not in the License Manager; I can’t see it registered on my InMusic profile; nor on my FXPansion profile; and I can’t find any reference to it in my e-mails (all of which I keep). Any suggestions, please?
Hello, FenderBender.
Many thanks for your interest in this and your helpful reply. As a result, I’ve done some ‘Googling’ and it does seem that InMusic have made the process unnecessarily tortuous. But it is what it is, so I’ll embark on that journey today (taking sandwiches!) Just one thing; you mention the BFDLAC app. I was unaware of this and can’t seem to find a reference to it anywhere on the 'net. Could you perhaps point me in the right direction? Many, many thanks once again.
Mart.
Just to clarify… you need your BFD2 serial to get a replacement for London Sessions, not the BFD3 serial. I’m not sure why your BFD3 doesn’t display on your inMusic profile.
The BFDLAC tool comes installed. On Mac, it will be inside the Library/Application Support/BFD Drums folder. I’m not sure about the Windows side, but it’s probably in the Program folder for BFD3.
Hello, Fender Bender. Many thanks, once again, for your help with this. I’ve been beavering away with this with the help of Teodora at InMusic, and now think I have cracked it. Just today I have installed all my BFD3 and relevant BFD2 files including London Sessions and all seems to be well; AND I’ve been able to ditch a shed load of files. So, once again, many, many thanks for all your help. Job done!!
