SD3 MIDI mapping is a nightmare

I used to think that BFD3’s mapping was a bit all over the place, but I think SD3 takes the cake for the most bizarre choices for mapping drum hits. It’s confusing af. My brain is now fried after making a somewhat usable map for BFD3.

Use the BFD Player Map..it was designed to cover All including Toontrack.
It should be easier to Edit if needed.
Descriptions/Wording is a little different..however should keep you from pulling your hair out..

Here is the Side by Side.

I added a BFD Player map in an earlier post/Topic…will just add another copy here.
BFDv3.4..Standard procedure… place in the BFD3 System Maps Folder..Rescan System Content.
BFDv3.5 place in the Maps Folder in the BFD Core Library and Re-scan it.

same, and each expansion/kit seems to have it’s own map…

best practice here (started with BFD2) has been create a standard keymap for a default kit setup and map kit pieces to that. the same keymap gets used across multiple daws, and ya, a bit of work but very productive in practice once some baselines are set up.

for SD3, have yet to figure out how to load a standard user defined keymap, ended up creating an empty kit with the standard keymap and then select kit pieces. so far good enough. still a bit annoyed with the lack of flexibility for cymbals (panning, processing), exploring workarounds.
