Routing to individual track removes ambient?

Hi everyone!

I’m very new to this and (besides it crashing very regularly unfortunatly) I’m really loving the realism of BFD 3.5. I’m having a routing issue though. I would like to be able to route every element (kick, snare, cymbals etc) to an individual track in Reaper so I can add FX etc. I have tried routing the buses to the individual tracks, but when I do, they no longer come through in the ambient mixer. Is there any way to fix this or am I doing something completely wrong? (a high probability of course)

I love the snare sound from the Black Album Drums, which has a great ambient/room sound. When I route the snare bus to Mono output 2 for example, the snare can no longer be heard (or barely anyway) on the ambient mix and sounds a lot weaker. I really hope somebody has the answer to this.

Welcome to the Forum !!

I created a Step by Step PDF in Open Office years ago for Recording Individual Tracks,Mics,Bleeds using the BFD Core Library with Reaper.
It was comprised of a combination of info when I used to use Reaper as a DAW (Not so much anymore..I mainly focus on Live Playing using E-Drum Kits)
Basically you setup a large amount of Aux Channels and create Presets for both Reaper and BFD3.

The information should still apply although I know there has been numerous updates for Both Reaper/BFD3 along with a New Mic Editing section in BFD3.5.
I haven’t used BFD3.5 other than a test Install on a Tablet/laptop…I have held off updating for now..
I had created numerous Presets and have them somewhere , however BFD3.5 now has a Minimum requirement for the Presets (v3.5) and I have no idea if the Old Reaper Presets would work also.. so it is probably easier to just create from scratch than try to import and hope they work etc.
It is a repetitious process so the more you do it…the more you create better you’ll get.
as the old saying “1st one worst one”..

There was also a Youtube Video showing how to do it..about 10 years ago.

See if any of it helps you out..
PDF’s are not allowed..so I had to zip it.

Thank you so much! This will be of great help! Apparently my problem was that I routed the snare to a mono track, which completely messed up the sound. Once I routed it to a stereo out, it sounded good again… Live and learn… :-). But I will definitely be using your manual for all future setups, super handy and much appreciated!
