I would like to try some of the Platinum Samples. I dont know which one to buy first: Evils Drum (the glamouflage kit sounds amazing), Andy Johns or Jim scott.
Also, Is there any problem or any issue using platinum samples with BFD 3.5?
Im asking this because i sent an email a couple of days ago and i didnt get response. Just wanted to make sure it’s still active
I don’t have any, but agree that the Glamouflage kit does sound amazing from the demos. It’s a shame they don’t do deeper/more frequent sales because I’m sure newer BFD users would jump on it and they could do a lot more in overall sales. At $60, it’s not too bad for that kit.
One thing I noticed missing from their site is the Zildjian endorsed MIDI grooves library. It’s really good. Maybe Zildjian didn’t want to renew the license, as was with the Zildjian Digital Vault expansion for BFD.
Yes, they all sound great but i’m concerned about how the authorization process works using the inmusic download manager. Im afraid of buying it and not being able to install it.
Another thing i was looking into was the Vinny Apice library from esoundz.
How come you dont get to see reviews about this amazing sounds?
I’m pretty sure all the Platinum Samples kits still authorize. I’m not certain whether the serials you get upon purchase are updated to inMusic, or the old Fxpansion ones. In the latter case, you’d have to contact BFD support to get a replacement.
With the eSoundz sale and BOGO, it’s definitely worth grabbing something. Apice is pretty good. Right now I’m finally getting around to messing with the Neal Peart kit to make a preset. It’s turned into me trying to recreate a cover of “Subdivisions”. I’ve watched a few tutorials on how to make the synth patches from scratch.
I have their Andy Johns Classic Drums and they’re great IMHO. If you can get the Zildjian Artist MIDI groove library - that’s really good too. I have it, along with the Real Jazz MIDI grooves. All of their BFD offerings seem really great. I really like the Andy Johns stuff. Every time I shop their site I have a hard time deciding what to get next (I’m almost always on a limited budget it seems).
As far as 3rd party expansions go, I’ve never had any problems, but this was pre v3.5 - which I still haven’t installed. I haven’t had the luxury of setting aside an entire weekend to uninstall and reinstall everything - which is quite a lot. I have probably 15 to 20 BFD expansions, plus a lot of stuff from eSounds as well as Platinum Samples. I’ve been using SSD5 just because it actually works, and sounds great.
I was not happy with InMusic when I found out I had to uninstall everything (400GB worth in my case) and then reinstall everything to get on the BFD 3.5 bus. That launch is probably the worst ever done in the history of software updates, but that’s another matter entirely.
