I think my BFD 3.5 has gotten into a bad state. I can add a new slot to a kit and put a drum in it. It appears in the Tech tab and I can audition it by clicking on the drum in the Kit display. I can even see (and hear) it bleeding into the other channels. However, I cannot get the new drum (a second Floor Tom) to appear in the mixer - i.e., no new channel has been created for it. I’ve tried all the different ways of adding a slot, without any joy. I’ve tried the “add channel” button just above the mixer but it justs creates another slot - no channel.
Do you have the mixer fully expanded? Not sure about the latest version, but in 3.4 there is an arrow next to the +/- (add channel) which expands/collapses the mixer.
Thanks Igor.
Have you raised a support ticket about this? I have, and I must say they haven’t been very helpful. They keep repeating the same suggestions, some of which don’t make sense - like checking the Output Assignment on the Tech tab of the drum editor, when I have already sent them screen snips showing that there is no Output Assignment setting anywhere in the Drum editor
They have also said that they have not seen this problem reported anywhere else, so if you report yours it might help to get them to take it more seriously.
Assigned articulations (Drum Mode)…Floor Toms are re- organized on screen by dimensions
Linked all to Floor Tom 1 ..so the default Groove would play all.
All are seen in Mixer and Playing as they should..
I could have been more explicit in my OP i guess - apologies if I wasn’t clear.
The problem manifest in both standalone and Plugin (VST) versions. I do have the latest manual, and the latest version of BFD3.5, and I am aware of how to add drums/slots, and what should happen when you do. It just wasn’t working on my system anymore - i.e., my installation had gone awry. Fortunately, after I escalated my support ticket a new guy was assigned to my case and was absolutely brilliant! I couldn’t have asked for better service.
The resolution was to completely uninstall BFD, delete the BFDDrums folder, and reinstall from scratch.
A bit of a “nuclear option” but it solved the problem and everything works perfectly now.
As an alternative to the “nuclear option”, when you experience any kind of odd behavior from BFD3, you can first try deleting the, BFD3_user_preferences.pref. I had an issue one time, where BFD3 was instantly crashing when opening and after I trashed that file, it created a new one and that solved it. Not saying it’s a surefire fix-all, but an easy thing to try. Just be sure to take note of any custom settings you’ve created, like engine, choke behavior, etc, so you can make those changes to the default settings.
