So it’s been several hours since I updated to 3.5 BFD, and had to re-install all my libraries.
Firstly, thanks InMusic for not notifying me of the available upgrade, only found out there was a new VST3 version when I installed Nuendo 14 and it wouldn’t see the older VST2 version. Given that BFD phones home so often you’d think it’s parent would let me know when there was an update. Had to Google to find out. At the very least the old Licence Manager should alert me, but no, that was telling my my software was up to date. And people get paid to do this stuff? And the licence manager is now redundant? Who knows, no-one at InMusic has said as much, but the new app seems to be a replacement. I really wish this company would learn some basic communication skills.
Anyway, the installation of the Core Library has been hanging for hours so I’m quitting it and going to try running BFD3 as, checking the size of the target folder suggests it’s done. Hmm, now BFD is checking my Product Registrations (and taking its time) despite the InMusic app saying AUTHORISED.
It’s a real shame that the only time I visit this site is to complain about BFD (or rather InMusic) - I don’t anger easily but IM have a way of screwing up my day with their dreadful approach to customer satisfaction. The instructions for download fail to address the issue of external drive for the download, and only much further down the page do you find that you need to click on your profile icon to change the download target. Again, not intuitive, and not at all helpful.
OK so I was correct - the library is fully installed even though the app says not.
I will install my Expansions directly from their Installer files and see if that’s faster.
Yes, as expected it’s better to install directly from the unzipped installer app rather than from InMusic’s App.
All that said, the new GUI is very pleasing. I haven’t put it through its paces yet but I’m happy it’s now in VST3.
Let’s hope I don’t need to post here again for a while…
