Can you please disable the Checking Product Registrations every time that BFD3 is accessed? I can understand it checking the first time in a session but even loading a file that I have been using for weeks, if there is a BFD3 track in it, it always needs to check product registration. It’s very annoying and BFD3 is the only software instrument that I use that does this.
And the Checking Product Registration process takes so long. It’s really unacceptable.
They promised this would be addressed over two years ago when BFD 3.5 was in Beta…
Needless to say it wasn’t then and it hasn’t been since.
There hasn’t been a single bug fix since release and they don’t respond to bug reports, so I wouldn’t hold your breath. Not sure there’s anyone actually working on BFD anymore other than maybe a marketing intern.
Before this version 3, I did not have any problem with BFD—why did they change it?
I think what you see is what you get with the current BFD. It’s most likely never going to be updated again.
I still use v3.4.5.28 and it doesn’t check authorizations on startup. Occasionally I’ll have to re-authorize my products, but not every time on launch. The downside is that you can’t download any content from the old manager, it will only authorize. If you have all your stuff installed, then that shouldn’t be a problem. If you do actually need to download, you can use the current inMusic software center and the old manager will update with anything you’ve added/installed.
It only takes about 30 seconds on my Mac to check, not ideal by any means but not horrible either. I’m just hoping g they stay in business and I get to keep using BFD 3. It’s the best sounding Drum software I have!
It’s 2-5 minutes here for the check. It seems to be based on both geographic location and whoever your ISP is. Host system makes absolutely no difference to how long the check takes, it’s all at inMusic’s end that the delays occur and they were informed about it in the Beta testing as I said and promised to fix it, since then crickets and there is nobody doing support anymore.
The Beta test was concluded with a number of show stoppers still registered btw - they chose to release an unfinished product. Extremely unprofessional.
Also if you’re using Logic Pro it doesn’t do the auth check on load - you have to manually select the plugin and go through the auth check and BFD crashes often in Logic, forcing a restart of all plugins, so you end up going through it multiple times per project. I’ve reached the point where I won’t use it in projects any more because it’s not fit for purpose.
Wow sorry to hear that. I must be living right, I’m using Logic and Cubase and have no problems at all. Crazy.
Like I said it’s location and ISP affected. Nothing to do with user setup.
It’s all on inMusic having essentially no QC or customer support.
Mac M4: more than 2 minutes!!! Outrageous
The other day I had to jump back and forth between Nuendo 14, Cubase 13 and Studio One to work on older iterations of a project. And each time I switched DAWs, I had to wait for the BFD registration process to finish. It really got in the way of my efforts to work in a quick and efficient way.
It’s a real pain, especially when I compare it to any of the other software that I own, none of which gets in my way as I’m working on projects.
Unless someone is working on a single file on a single DAW, all day long, this kind of suspicion-laden authenticity check for us legitimate software owners is not a good look for BFD’s parent company.
I’m also on an M4 and it feels sluggish and annoying to wait. I think it also just happens anytime I need to load the BFD3 vst, even if only using a single DAW.
They killed any BFD hope with both the old LM and software center authorizers.
