Can't download core library - installscript.bfdis missing

This might belong in bugs, but I’m not able to post there.

On Windows 10, typical system, plenty of ram & space, I’ve disabled VPN, rebooted system, run license manager as admin, the program does download, but the Core Library just sits at 0.0/37.9 GB. It does download the core library installer & uninstaller EXEs, but when running that installer file, I get the error message that “installscript.bfdis” is missing. That script file is definitely not downloading, there are no hidden files, only the installer & uninstaller EXEs.

I’ve searched the forum & others but haven’t found a solution.

Very much appreciated if someone can assist. I’ve found lots of complaints of people trying for months with no success to get the library and expansions downloaded. If I can’t resolve this, I want to request a refund of the $250 I just spent while I’m still able.

Thank you very much in advance!

The BFD License Manager is No Longer in use.

BFD3.5..BFD Core Library and All expansions are now Downloaded and Activated from the InMusic Software Center.
It’s important to have all products registered to the email used for your InMusic Profile or the Software Center will not acknowledge them.

For refunds etc you contact BFD Support and open a Ticket

Oh my, that is a much better piece of software, indeed! Thanks for this, I had purchased via a third party & their links / instructions were still for the license manager.

Is the old LM still able to download expansions for use with v3.4.5.28 though? I know that it at least still functions on the authorizing side, fine, but I haven’t tried downloading anything since v3.5 and the Software Center became the default. I’m just curious as to whether I buy another expansion, if I will be able to download its content.

That part…using the Old License manager..I don’t know.

I presume since Potential178 was mentioning a Refund..I treated it as a New Purchase and 3.5.
I have seen some sites offering BFD3.5..but No mention of the InMusic process..

I did try downloading expansions from the old LM on another machine which I don’t have all of the expansions on a month or 2 ago and it only downloaded 2 Files (Installer and Uninstaller)..and just lists Pending Downloads or something lik that and the Downloads were Q’ued up..but nothing downloading.

I presume there is an expiration date for the Old LM..and the Server(s) being shut down.
I only have one machine (3.4.4.3.1) using the LM..the others are FXpansion ( Offline Auth)..and a Tablet/Laptop with the InMusic Software Center and BFD 3.5.

BFD3.5 does place a BFD License Manager Folder under programs..however there is no exe or anyway to start it.There is just a install log and uninstall script.

I haven’t seen anyone mentioning the 90 day period expiring and no longer Authorizing.
Overall there hasn’t been anything but Silence on all parts…No warning about being forced to update etc.

BFD3.5 Core Library Kit Pieces all have the Minimum version 3.5 in the infos…and New Library Codes…and there are 11,000 Compatibility Patches that are probably used for all the older BFD2 Presets,Pal etc etc etc

Using the old LM, I did get de-authorized within the past few months, but wasn’t an issue authorizing again. I would assume that the servers for old LM and Software Center are the same (not sure why they’d be different)? They better not shut off, full access to v3.4.5 users, at anytime in the future and that’s lame that we can’t even buy/download the previous installers for our version either. Like this is Apple level planned obsolesce.

I’ve been on this forum and other places for the past 4-5 years offering help to users, trying to spread positive vibes about BFD and buying expansions, all in an effort to help it succeed again. It would be the ultimate insult if I couldn’t even use it anymore, just because I’m not able to run the latest version. I guess I’ll have to look into the pirated version as a backup plan, to protect my sessions.

I haven’t seen or read anywhere any warning or a timeline etc about the EOL of the Pre-3.5 Version.
That’s the issue with the lack of communication.

I am sure eventually there are not going to be (2) Complete sets of Core Libraries and Expansions being hosted for downloading and different Licensing…as mentioned I noticed ALL Presets,Kit’s,Kit pieces etc etc info’s have MinimumRequiredEngineVersion=“3.5” in the infos.

It could be one of the reasons we have seen the prices at the lowest I have ever seen/paid. …$14-$19 for.an expansion is extremely low…Dark Farm at 90+GB is $19.
Incentive for upgrading..

The BFD Player Expansions are All… $9.

I filed a support ticket to inquire about the issue with the old LM and not being able to download the older installers. Here is part of their response.

The BFD License manager is able to help users re-activate BFD 3.4 however, we are aware (and working on) a solution to fix issues associated with the core library and expansion content failing to download. Unfortunately, currently I am unable to provide you with installation files compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. Once the download issue is solved, we will notify you as an update to this support ticket.

So that’s somewhat encouraging for legacy users and being able to use v3.4.5.28 moving forward. :crossed_fingers:
