Cannot open BFD3 after 3.4.4.29 update

Hi all,

I downloaded and installed the 3.4.4.29 update last night and while it appeared to run ok when I tried to click on the BFD3 icon the programme immediately crashed. I reinstalled it a few more times but same result every time.

I then tried to run the uninstaller to try and clear out the system but got the message ‘cannot find uninstaller.bfds file’, and I’m now going around in a loop of being unable to uninstall or either reload the install file.

To make matters worse I then tried to open Studio One 5.5 to see what would happen there if I tried to load BFD3 as an instrument but Studio One also immediately crashed. Nearly every song I have in Studio On going back the last twelve years has BFD3 on it in one way or another so I effectively can’t use Studio One until I get the BFD3 install problem resolved.

I’ve saved the error message report to Notes if anyone can help but the error message header in BFD3 is:

I suspect that if I can resolve the BFD3 install problem it will resolve the Studio One problem.

This is a major issue for me now so if anyone has any ideas I’d be grateful.

Hi,
Do you have a full crash log? These ones, particularly the standalone one, look incomplete. This could be a resources issue. I would suggest trying to clear stuff out.

Looks like you may need to do a deep clean of the BFD software off your mac. Firstly, Deauthorise all your BFD software and log out of BFD LM. Please follow the instructions below to wipe BFD off your mac.

Delete - Mac HD/Users/ USERNAME /Library/Application Support/BFD Drums/BFD3/
Delete - Mac HD/Users/ USERNAME /Library/Application Support/com.inmusicbrands.softwareunlock
Delete - Mac HD/Library/Application Support/BFD Drums/BFD3/
Delete - Mac HD/Applications/BFD3.app
Delete - Mac HD/Applications/BFD License Manager.app
Make sure you also delete the BFD audio unit from here: Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
and the VST from here: Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST

Also delete FX expansion data

Delete - Mac HD/Users/ USERNAME /Library/Application Support/FXpansion/BFD3/
Delete - Mac HD/Library/Application Support/FXpansion/BFD3/
Delete - Mac HD/Applications/BFD3.app
Delete - Mac HD/Applications/FX License Manager.app
Make sure you also delete the BFD audio unit from here: Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/
and the VST from here: Mac HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST

Once you’ve done that, reinstall the latest version, and let me know if it launches.

Hi Drew,

It’s taken a while but it looks like everything is up and running again! I’ve just installed the basic BFD3 library along with the app and it’s working ok and I can now open Studio One and load BFD3 as an instrument without it closing down.

I’m going to keep things simple for now and not load every expansion pack I’ve bought over the years but I would like to load a few of the Drum Drops packs I’ve also bought. In the License Manager under Actions it says: No download so any idea where I can download the files as they’re obviously not on the new BFD site?
