This a bit odd, and also rather annoying, I created a complete set of sampled drums, with velocities - some specific for certain projects - not every tune needs a hammer hitting a piece of corrugated steel, or the sound of an SR16 Snare, Tom or Kick, but when you reload a project you do want them to be included.
Oddly to test this wasn’t a simple folder problem I recreated a single snare drum - and now 2024-09-08T23:00:00Z it’s part of the user sampled library - whilst every thing else is not !! - simply why aren’t the other self created user samples being read, yet this new one - created today is ?
I didn’t even know you could do this. Is there a guide somewhere? Thanks
BFD3 offers a powerful feature for importing samples, including those with multiple velocity layers, allowing you to create highly realistic drum instruments. For example, if you wanted to import a snare sound from an Alesis SR16, you can simply create a custom snare drum with corresponding velocity layers. It requires at least 10 WAV files (or more) recorded at varying velocity levels to capture the tonal changes that occur at different playing intensities, something that that Drum Machine does itself - if you have one.
It’s important to note that velocity is not simply a matter of volume. As the velocity increases, the tonality of the drum often changes due to the way the drum is struck. Capturing this variation is key to achieving a the correctly playable drum sound in BFD3.
The process of importing these samples into BFD3 involves assigning each WAV file to the appropriate velocity range within the software. BFD3 allows you to map these layers, ensuring seamless transitions between them as velocities change during playback. The online manual available on BFD’s official website here should provide a step-by-step guide to importing samples and creating custom kits.
This capability makes BFD3 a versatile tool but sadly - which is part of its nature - I can’t share samples I have created, since BFD3 currently only recognises samples created by the user on there specific computer.
Good luck.
