New to this site and Hello my name is James, I hope everyone is well.
I know I did something wrong at the time I bought BFD 3 because I missed the download link.
I tried to follow the video response I got from whom ever or what ever is in support i.e, AI @27 seconds is shows the windows/Mac link in a blue box , I must have missed that.
I had the inMusic account already, I got BFD player and like it so much I bought BFD 3.
It is licensed, it shows me the serial number but some how in the software installer or whatever its called, it only shows Player and core library.
My wife says I am inpatient, I know she is right but it has been 2 weeks and I have no software.
Part of that is my fault I guess because I didn’t respond fast enough to support ticket, they closed it. I started another ticket yesterday that is still processing.
I am kind of thinking how can I fix this if no human is on the other end.
The reply’s are nice with links to all the possible info but with out access to a download link , it will never work. Sorry if I seem to be upset but I am.
I have loads of software, it all works except this.
Thanks in advance for any help.
James
Go here and download for your OS platform. Install it, it’s the BFD3 (only) license manager. This is a completely separate thing to BFD Player, as you don’t use the inMusic software center (yet). Hopefully you’ve read the system compatibility for BFD3 before buying because it’s not quite as up-to-date as BFD Player.
Run the license manager, login with your inMusic email. You need to add your BFD3 serial # to this manager. Then you can download it. There will be 2 tabs to install, 1 for the app/plugins and one for the sounds content. Make sure to close this license manager before running the actual installers. You can choose a specific location to install the sounds to if you want. Just pay attention to the installer prompts.
When you open BFD3 for the first time, you need to go up to the Tools menu to setup content locations. Add the path where you installed the sound content for BFD3.
Thanks Fender Bender. I have all of this. In the link,it says the serial number is registered but no software shows up anywhere. In this link below , if this is what the license . Unless that is what the old version looks like I do not have it
Right but no software. In the license manager , I go to add new product, software, add serial number and it says it’s already registered. Was I suppose to get a email with a link to the download?
Not anymore (disregard what I said above. I totally forgot that the process has changed). Product serials are automatically added to your inMusic account when you make a purchase, which requires your inMusic profile email address. So when you login into the BFD3 license manager, they will already show as registered. In your screenshot, both BFD3 and its content show as installed. You must’ve already installed them.
Actually , I just added to the confusion, because that screen shot is from the info that BFD sent that will supposedly help fix this. That is not my system. It is the generic file posted in the install instructions.
I searched all files , I know I didn’t get the software. The trick is can they determine where it was missed. My confidence in this process is very dim.
Software looks great, process, not so much.To darn many steps, not needed.
I just want to use it and forget the rest.
Thanks for your reply.
When you login to your inMusic account via browser, does BFD3 show in your products? If not, then you didn’t use your inMusic email address at checkout.
Yes BFD 3 does and that’s the confusing part.I said to them , I am no longer in the purchase window and to me that is where the download would have been available at the time of the sale purchase. They had said in the first response that it didn’t matter about that.
Here is where I have a problem, if there is a human somewhere on the other end that would look at this, it could be solved immediately. I am not saying its not my responsibility just that someone in that company could possibly figure this out.
Any software problems I ever had could easily be addressed by a support rep.
If BFD3 is in your inMusic account, then when you login to the BFD3 License Manager (not inMusic Software Center) it should automatically be listed in the registered tab and show as authorized in green. Then in the Installed tab when you click on BFD3, there will be two download links. One for the app/plugins and one for the audio content.
Now , I think we might be getting somewhere.
In a link from BFD , How Do I Retrieve my License below from that link (not my image)
Mine looks the same except on the right there is no download link ?
The link that I posted above takes you to the download links. Scroll down to BFD3 and choose the installer for your OS. That will install the License Manager for BFD3. After installed, you login to it. You’ll be re-directed to your inMusic profile via web browser. You can close that tab after a few seconds, as it appears to do nothing, but you will be logged in when you go back to the license manager. Go to the Installed tab, click on BFD3 and you will see the 2 download links for the installers. Make sure to close the license manager before you run the installers.
That is Not the BFD3 License Manager…that is the InMusic Software Center.
The BFD3 License Manager will Not show the BFD Player or Expansion…the BFD3 License Manager is completely separate…
Click on the Link provided in Fender-Bender 1st reply…
Scroll down to the BFD3 License Manager…Download/Install for the appropriate OS…
The Download will be…BFD License Manager_30622_
Login is the email used to register BFD…and should be the same as your InMusic Profile.
After downloading the BFD3 Installer and the Content Installer…Close the License Manger Before using the Installers…
OMG , thank you.Sorry to you all for this.
Well, this will work after the file downloads.
That is a huge file.
I appreciate Fender Bender sticking with me here.
I really thought it was hopeless. lol
BFD3 is in it’s Final Stages…
BFD is over 20 years old and has had 3 versions with BFD3 being released in 2013.
BFD3 v3.5 is currently in Beta (has been for months) and will be the Final Update and eventually the New BFD (4?) is released.
The update should have the New Licensing.
InMusic is migrating All Brands/Products to one Software Center.
It seems the InMusic Profile is updated for BFD3 and the InMusic Software Center Download…while the Current Version of BFD3 Software…isn’t…It still requires the BFD License manager…which itself can be a bit of a pain.
Hopefully… They will “all get on the same page”…soon.
That will help eliminate any confusion.
As far as Installing…Install the Content to a different Location…Not the Folder the Installers are located in …you will need a lot of HDD space for both the installer and Core Library.
Typically since the Core library is large… most install on a separate HDD then when BFD3 is started up it will ask for Content Location (if it can’t find it) and you then point it to the Folder/Location.It’s best to name the content folder BFD.
The Content location can also be changed (moved to external HDD etc) later on as you add expansions.
As Mentioned Previously and recommended on the support page…
Note: Be sure to close BFD License Manager before clicking on the installer.
The installation will not be able to complete with any open instances of BFD License Manager, or BFD3 software.
