Just spent ages setting up a kit in BFD 3.5 to use with my dual Roland TD-9 Frankenkit - and see that I am only able to select one MIDI Input Device at a time/!!
Are you kidding me?
This is surely a bug…? What possible reason would you have in not allowing multiple devices control your software?
It worked before - and literally EVERY SINGLE PLUGIN ON THE PLANET allows you to select multiple inputs.
This is absolutely unforgiveable.
Surely I can’t be the only one for whom this is a dealbreaker?
Totally agree. I literally was signing on to post this very topic. Thanks for beating me to it. This is the only sampler program I have that does this. Please fix. I quite enjoy being able to trigger samples from my controller and my e-kit w/o having to go into the settings every time. Makes building kits a lot more fun. And like previously stated, this used to be a feature in past versions.
Yes - this is a gigantic problem. We’ve crossed deep into ridiculous territory with this one. This may be the only software out there that only allows one MIDI input device at a time. Seriously?!?
I’m just now getting around to reinstalling my entire 400gb of BFD stuff to get up to speed on BFD3.5. So far that’s actually going smoothly, but having to delete and reinstall this much stuff is totally ridiculous as well. My thoughts on that are already well documented elsewhere.
So far making the MIDI preferences allow the user to choose how many MIDI input devices they wish to use is #1 on my list of most important things to get fixed in BFD3.5.x ASAP.
One would assume so, but I don’t actually know. Seems like there was a guy named Drew(?) and he was pretty responsive, but I’ve read elsewhere that he’s no longer with the company, or perhaps has a new position where he doesn’t get to monitor and respond as regularly as he had been able to do in the past.
At any rate, this is an issue that needs immediate attention IMHO. So far I haven’t found anything else, but I’m still getting all of my expansions installed and testing each one - one at a time after they get installed. As mentioned, that’s going smoothly - really. So they have done some things right, but the number of MIDI input devices they allow isn’t one of them.
I’ve never tried, but there are software and hardware solutions that combine midi devices into one device (virtual device if it is software). Wouldn’t it be possible to use this in the interim?
As part of a support request I had a chance to ask about this and the person I worked with agreed that this was odd and should be addressed ASAP in a future update.
He did point out that the current best work around is that all MIDI controllers that you have enabled in your DAW of choice will work with BFD as a plugin within your DAW. I was able to confirm this as well. I use 5 different types of MIDI controllers in my DAW and each of them worked fine in Logic with BFD3.5. This current limitation is only an issue in standalone mode.
I recently completed the full reinstall of BFD3.5 and all 400GB of my expansions. So far everything is working fine for me and it’s an actual improvement IMHO. YMMV
I’m a bit late to this party, I just upgraded to 3.5 based on the promise of a few new kits to use for playing live, but now I’m unable to have any articulations on hihat because my hardware is an Alesis Trigger|io in combination with a MIDI Expression Green from AudioFront (to apply a slightly non linear curve to pedal response), a combo that worked flawlessly in BFD 3.4. I’ll check for upgrades to BFD3.5 but searching this forum I don’t see any mention of a solution to this deal breaking issue! Not good, not good at all!
