Installing 3.5 Applications -Core Libraries and 8 expansions
Mac M1 studio -Sequoia 15.6.1 64GB Ram
Until recently I have been able to use 3.4 with only the core library but now after upgrading to Cubase 15 BFD says it can’t verify my products anymore and won’t load. So…. I guess my only choice is to see if I can get this baby installed as BFD is by far my most favorite drum program… Ever..
I read over some of the details for the installation and InMusic says updating to 3.5 and NOT updating the core library and the existing expansions can cause erratic behavior and maybe a total system crash. I want to give this installation the best chance for success so I’m guessing that deleting all the old libraries and expansions BEFORE anything else would be the way to go? Any helpful insight as how to make this work would be greatly appreciated!
I’m not looking forward to redownloading all this content but if I must I must
Got 3.5 installed without incident. The only thing I’ve noticed so far is that all of the drum presets from all of my libraries are doubled in the list. This was a complete new download and install. Same thing happed with previous versions of the software. Anyone know how get rid of the duplications?
So, everything seems to be working great! I like the new interface, the license check takes about 7-8 seconds. I’m gonna have to research about how to keep using BFD 3.5 if my internet goes out… surly there must be a way. I’m even thinking of getting some additional Black Friday libraries. I’ll report any bugs I find, I’m sure there are some.
The Authorisation System SUX on BFD.. but I have a process just to deal with the fact it SUX…
Basically, theres 3 months from activation, (90 days) , But at anytime, you can log in using the BFD auth manager, and when connected, it will reset all to 90 days again…
So what I do, and it soooo saves time considering how long BFD loads due to the DRM, is I have little snitch, Where I block BFD , so it doesnt do checkins when launching…It literarily boots straight up…
Then unblock every few weeks to reset back to 90 days..
In the end, the time saved just booting BFD is a godsend…
Still though.. No internet for 90 days.. we are all F’d
As a regular BFD user who is clearly aware how many people are having this problem with licensing surely you must ask yourself “why haven’t InMusic fixed this?”
The only sensible conclusion I can reach is they don’t have any long term plan for BFD, so are not concerned about losing customers? Either that or utter incompetence?
I had the same issue with doubled list items. I got it fixed and it was easy. However, I can’t remember what I did. But if you search the forum you should find a discussion of it. If you can’t locate it let me know and I’ll check the BETA forum. It may be in there.
did you install the conent to an external drive, bfd installs presets to a default folder and sometimes they show up as doubles if you have them on a different drive, best solution for me has always been to delete which ever ones I don’t want. Right click the preset and say show in finder, if it shows the path that you are using, keep, if it points to a folder you aren’t using then delete it. Hope that makes sense? You can either hide it (remove from browser) or physically go to the folder and delete them from there, then close and restart bfd, they should be gone if you do it that way.
Thanks, that helps a bunch! I picked up 6 new BFD expansions over Turkey Day, black album drums, retro, imperial, jazz noir and some percussion libraries. Black Drums are really something special. Also, Imperial Drums are just so real sounding. So 3.5 has been treating me well…. With just one PROBLEM.
No matter how I try to export audio to Cubase 15 the audio comes in totally distorted. Of course I can get audio into Cubase through Render In Place but simply exporting or dragging and dropping a midi file (with “Drag and Drop Exports Audio instead of MIDI” selected is no bueno.
Glad it helped, as for the audi export there was a lot of issues some time ago, but mostly got sorted. I can’t remember much avbout it, maybe search or someone else can remember. I’ll give it a try in a sec, I am also on Sequoia and Cubase 15 Pro

confirmed, what a horrible fing mess that is, i thought this got sorted, itwas one of my favourite features, i haven’t used bfd in some time now, man this is such a let down
