Hi, I used the Tama Tempesta Snare from BFD3 80’s Pop Kit
My favorite is prolly the Tama Bell Brass, but I’ll have to remember to check out the Tempesta again. BFD3 stock kits are not given enough love with all the expansions we have available.
It’s been a while since I’ve recorded anything new and despite all the issues I’ve been having with BFD3, I just don’t wanna use with anything else! My work for this week got cancelled and my car is broken, so I guess someone was telling me to get my ass in the studio! Hope you dig it! Leeeeeeeeee
Nice work Lee. The bridge section is very cool and that’s a burning guitar solo. What BFD kit did you use?
Howzit Lee
I’d say…start taking more time of fkn work bru, this is very cool, I can’t stop using BFD either, it’s the best. Great track man, love it, everything is awesome \m/
Hey thanks guys!
It’s the Chad Smith kit with the snare from the Oblivion kit blended in for some punch and those lovely ghost strokes.
I’m still not sure about the swearing tho. I don’t really have any opinion about that one way or the other. Sometimes it just sounds right and sometimes it sounds juvenile. I did that just for something to work with while I was writing it until I could think of something more intelligent to replace it, but it turns out I’m not that intelligent and in the end, it sounded better.
I think I will do another version without it anyway tho, my mum is not happy
The swearing was fine. If it doesn’t sound forced, then it’s not a problem. What’s the Chad Smith kit btw… what expansion, aside from the snare from Oblivion?
The Chad Smith Kit is one of the Kits in Platinum Samples Jim Scott Rock Drums Vol 1…
Chad Smith & Steve Ferrone played Kits in Vol 1
Don Heffington and Bobby Jarzombek played Kits in Vol 2
Yes that one. It’s bloody marvellous!
Wow, 4 full kits for under $100 ain’t bad. It’s a shame the cymbal assortment is kinda basic, but they sound really high quality. I like that ride from Kit1.
Outside of Dark Farms…Jim Scott Rock Drums (2009) is probably the Largest Expansion(s)
Originally Priced at $250/$150
Vol 1 is actually 5 Kits…
Vol 1…40.5GB…
Kits: 2 (7.5GB)…4 (11.6GB)…5 (4.3GB)…7 (8.4GB)…8 (8.65GB)
Vol 2…18GB
Kits: 1 (5.2GB)…3 (6.8GB)…6 (6.6GB)…6 Extra (Kick 2-85MB)
I’m just releasing these songs as I go. This is a quirky rock n roll tune, which started out as bits of 2 separate songs. So you can hear one was a bit AC/DC and the other a bit Chilli Peppers. This features the talented young Ben Alwin on drums. I’ve sample blended the kick, snare and toms with BFD3 drum samples to achieve a more professional drum mix. I used to gig with his dad back in the 90s. Ben is now the regular drummer in my cover band “Both Barrels” Our most regular gig is at O’Neill’s in Soho, London which is the building in the background of this cover. Hope you dig it!
Sounds really good Lee, which BFD kit did you use, cool track, great groove. Killer guitar & Vocals too!
Thanks man! About 6 posts up, you’ll see the kit I used (Mostly Chad Smith kit) altho it’ll sound a little different in this tune because it’s drier and I’ve blended the shells it with real drums.
Oh yeah I even commented before lol, sorry on 12 hour shifts, head is spinning. When you laying O’Neills again?
Ah I’m there tomorrow afternoon doing an acoustic set. Got about 8 gigs there this month!
Ah shit I am on night shift tomorrow, I’ll try get down there another time, rock on \m/
