dedicated overhead levels & room channels per track, no matter if using custom or expansion parts. Have the lil cropped jpegs become custom kit skins, I got BFD because of the custom capabilities and yet still feel trapped…..
I know it’s been asked for, and I know the implications given you’re using a third party (?) license manager, but I’d like to have Linux support. Imagine being able to build a decicated “drum computer” with BFD for use with an electronic kit on tour or at a rehearsal space. I’m actually using BFD 3.5 on a Linux machine with WINE, but the experience isn’t very smooth: it doesn’t understand Reaper’s scaling settings, it unauthorizes me every time I update the kernel, the startup takes quite long due to WINE being spawned on project opening/plugin loading, and there’s a slight yet noticeable performance overhead compared to what could be if it was compiled as a native VST3 or CLAP. Believe it or not, but I’m firmly convinced that Linux based systems are the future for small/project studios on a tight budget, and the reason it ain’t happened yet is that most software vendors are not willing to invest in their future user base, catering mostly to existing users. Some industry giants like Presonus are making huge steps in that direction, so I think it’s pretty much worth it to follow their steps. I know that it’s doable, as BFD (and a lot of other commercial plugins) is built upon JUCE framework, which supports Linux targets out of the box. If that’s ever happening, I’m ready to dedicate my time to extensive testing, bug triaging, and whatever else that may pop up in the process.
Some tangible evidence that there ever will be a BFD4 would be a good start.
To all your user-base, it would appear that you’re not bothered about them, or the future of BFD.
I seem to recall Drew before he left, being quite optimistic that we would would see BFD4 by late spring or early summer 2025.
Since he has left, just crickets.

I drop by this forum occasionally to see if there is any news. I have been using BFD and a good many expansions for about 11 years or so, I love the natural sound of it and put up with its various annoyances, in particular the licencing joke. I wish they would switch to iLok which is at least reliable but I am not hopeful. I hope BFD lives on but the silence from In-music is disconcerting, to put it mildly.

Save / recall personal mixer layouts so that when the mixer re-configures itself, you can just instantly snap back to the layout you like. Oh, and… a shortcut for clearing the peak level indicators please!
I would like to see an improved GUI that doesn’t rely on users needing to have ESP. Improve random kit function to include individual kit pieces. Better file structure for organizing user made kits and presets. Ability to save individual kit piece along with it’s own processing and tweaks. Would be easier for making and saving tuned sets.
